Abstract of Topic

Life, as we know it, evolved in an electromagnetic realm. Indeed, biochemistry per se and consequently, tissue regeneration, are set to threshold under the weak magnetic field that naturally envelops the Earth. At the BioIonic Currents Electromagnetic Pulsing Systems (BICEPS) laboratory, our fundamental scientific strategy is to exploit this innate biological imperative to promote tissue regeneration and human health. Muscle, as our largest tissue mass, is the principal target for weak magnetic field modulation of systemic regenerative capacity and life span. Employing our patented magnetic platform technology, we have been able to show that brief exposure (10 minutes) to low intensity (1 milliTesla (mT)) pulsed (50 Hertz (Hz)) electromagnetic fields, once or twice per week, for a few months, is capable of improving human systemic inflammatory status and resilience against metabolic disorders and cancer, translating to one or two hours of total exposure to our non-invasive fields before rendering physiological benefits. Today, I will discuss our achievements at the Institute of Health Technology and Innovation (iHealthtech) of the National University of Singapore with this platform in the areas of human health and longevity, in particular cancer management.
